Shop like a royal in High Street Kensington – it makes the
perfect London shopping destination.
Just minutes from central London, High Street Kensington has
a very relaxing atmosphere. The choice is enormous, from boutique shops to well
known high street brands as well as great restaurants, cafes and pubs. It certainly possesses royal credentials – members
of the royal family have been seen popping into Kensington shops as they do
live close by!
Stroll along the high street and you will find many of the
Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite stores such as Reiss, L.K.Bennett, Russell
& Bromley and Zara. In March 2020
she turned up in Waterstones buying a large bag of history and military themed
books for her children. One cold November morning even saw the arrival of the
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge outside High Street Kensington tube station,
talking to people involved in selling poppies for the annual Remembrance Day
Poppy Appeal. They have also been known to drop into local pubs for a quiet
evening drink.
Megan Markle – now Duchess of Sussex – used to shop in
WholeFoods, while Kensington Flower Corner was said to be her favourite place
to buy flowers. Even Prince Harry has
been known to drop into Nandos and Primark!
Head up Church Street for a good choice in antique shops close to many hotels of South Kensington where you can contently browse through all kinds of antiques, from furniture to Japanese art.
Want somewhere quiet and discreet to eat and drink?
Launceston Place Restaurant was popular with Diana, Princess of Wales. Bombay
Brasserie was another of her favourite destination. It is still popular with
celebrities keen to try its Indian cuisine created from a mix of Benghal,
Gujerat, Raj, Mughal and even Portuguese influences with dishes like Khumb
Palak, Chicken lababdar and Ajwaini Jhinga

For something more casual, take a stroll up through Kensington Palace Gardens and discover CafeDiana just over the road. It might be small but it definitely has royal connections! Step inside to find lots of Diana, Princess of Wales memorabilia. Apparently she used to drop in frequently for a drink and cake, often with William and Harry in tow. A great place close to Park Grand Hotel Kensington to get an all day breakfast, salads, sandwiches, cakes and coffee!
